About MRCS
The intercollegiate MRCS examinations are held by the Royal
College of Surgeons comprising of part A & part B. MRCS Part A
comprises two papers of a 5-hour duration, divided into a
3-hour exam covering Basic sciences worth 180 marks (60%) & a
2-hour Principles of Surgery in General (PoSG) exam worth 120
marks (40%). MRCS part B comprises an objective structured
clinical exam testing anatomy and surgical pathology, applied
surgical science and critical care, clinical and procedural
